Piolo Pascual’s first project for 2010 is the special two-part presentation of Maalaala Mo Kaya where he will be playing the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. ABS-CBN.com spoke with Piolo during his taping for MMK and he talked about the transformation he went through to look like Ninoy. “In Lovers in Paris, my hair was really short. After ng show hindi muna ako nagpagupit. Hindi muna rin ako nag-shave. When I showed up for the meeting para dito sa MMK, dun na na-plan ‘yung magiging look ko as Ninoy. Mahirap ang magiging look ko dito kasi ang story magspa-span from 17 years old si Ninoy hanggang 50. Basically, canvas lang ako. I trust the production team kung paano iibahin ‘yung look ko. They know better on how I should look. Sa akin na lang ‘yung acting part. Of course with Direk Jeffrey Jeturian na nakatrabaho ko rin sa Lovers, I’m sure magagabayan niya ako nang husto.”
There have also been talks of doing a Ninoy biopic for which Piolo is one of the strongest contenders for the role. Piolo said that he is interested in doing the Ninoy movie, but until everything has been finalized, his focus will be on the MMK episode. “Wala pang talks if there will be a movie or kung ako pa rin ang gaganap na Ninoy dun. Ang naiisip ko pa lang e itong MMK episode. I love the story and I’m honored to be given this role. Dun pa lang sobrang saya ko na. Pero kung magtutuloy tuloy sa movie, why not? For sure it will be another big opportunity for me.”
The Ultimate Heartthrob shared that he will be busy this 2010, with two movies being planned, one of which will have him star opposite Zaijan “Santino” Jaranilla of May Bukas Pa. “I’ll be doing two movies this year. Pero iniisip pa ‘yung concept. Kapag na-finalize na tsaka na lang natin pagusapan. Isang definite na diyan is ‘yung movie with Santino pero hindi pa alam ‘yung concept or kung kailan gagawin.”
Many assumed that after Lovers in Paris, Piolo would be doing a movie with his teleserye leading lady KC Concepcion. However, KC is up for a film with her father Gabby Concepcion and her leading man Jericho Rosales. “They’re still finalizing kung kailan gagawin ‘yung movie with KC. Depende pa rin lahat sa management. She’s doing a movie with Gabby and Jericho first. Management ang may final decision and ako dumepende lang. Lahat naman nagbabago in the course of time so let’s wait and see.”
As for TV, Piolo said that there is a teleserye planned for him this year. “This month we’ll be discussing the concept for my next teleserye. Baka second quarter or second half of the year magsimula na.”
But when asked if he is being offered to join Kris Aquino and Freddie Garcia as judges for Pilipinas Got Talent, Piolo was quick to say, “I cannot comment on that. Kung mapanood niyo ako dun ibig sabihin kasali ako. Kung hindi, e ‘di hindi. Ganun ka-simple. Ha ha ha!”
