John Lloyd Cruz was first offered the role to play Ninoy Aquino in the dramatization of Ninoy-Cory love story on “Maalaala Mo Kaya“. But John Lloyd declined the role since he doesn’t want to be associated with any political party as his reason for refusing to play the role.
It has been reported that Kris Aquino’s camp is said to be sore at John Lloyd Cruz for refusing to play Ninoy Aquino on “Maalaala Mo Kaya“. He was replaced by Piolo Pascual, with Bea Alonzo as the young Cory Cojuangco. They say that Lloyd made a big mistake in turning it down the role as it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play a historical character like Ninoy. They even berated his political beliefs and accused him of not loving his country.
